Internship of the Year
Spring 2020 saw numerous students, among them Patrik Melis, entering their internships for the prize. Business Academy Aarhus chose BoligPortal as the winner with the following rationale:

”The jury’s reason for choosing BoligPortal and Patrik Melis was that the internship scored highly on every count. Professionally and socially. From the outset, a great match between intern and host.”

The prize for best internship at Business Academy Aarhus pays tribute to the importance of a good internship while also giving students a chance to give their hosts a pat on the back.

A good match
During his internship, Patrik Melis worked on BoligPortal’s app and improved its website for the Swedish market. Patrik is studying multimedia design, so this was a particularly good match for both BoligPortal and Patrik.

The 21-year-old says that he would not change a single thing about his internship, which made it extraordinarily rewarding.

Design and development
“I always wanted an internship that would teach me loads about design,” Patrik says. “At BoligPortal, I really got to get stuck in. I spent six hours a day designing, and I loved it! BoligPortal showed real faith in me, gave me lots of feedback and had me working alongside talented people and seeing how inspiring it is to work in a team.”

From intern to employee
”Patrik was a fantastic intern, mainly because he’s highly talented but also because he has a Pippi Longstocking mentality with this infectious curiosity and enthusiasm,” says his colleague and mentor Product Manager and UX Designer Frederik Rømming at BoligPortal.

BoligPortal has benefited not only from having Patrik as an intern, but now also from having him as a permanent part of the team, as he has been offered a part-time job as UX Designer alongside his studies.

BoligPortal plans to use the prize as a reminder of the importance of continuing to look after its people.

“We’re very proud of this prize,” says BoligPortal CEO Anders Hyldborg. “When someone joins the BoligPortal team, it’s important that they’re given the opportunity to make a difference and given real responsibility so that they can see and feel the results of their work – we all need this.”
